President's Message June 2018

Dear Brothers,

I would like to thank our members who marched with our division and accompanied by our great pipe band in the Memorial Day Parade in the Village of Monroe on Sunday May 27th this year. How wonderful it was to march in our home village in such an important parade as our Division and Jr. Division are named in remembrance of our fallen military personnel.

On Memorial Day, on our Division members accompanied our fellow brothers from all of Orange County AOH Divisions in an early morning sunrise tour of the grave sites in Orange County where we honored and remembered our fallen military personal.

The Executive Board would like to thank our Brothers Anderson, DeBold, Edmonds, Walsh and Gertzkis who helped the LAOH setting up, cooking and cleaning up at our LAOH Jr.’s Mother’s Day brunch. The kitchen was used for the first time since its renovation and it passed with great complements. A certificate has been hung in the kitchen thanking all that worked on the renovation.

Membership cards for this year and years prior have been mailed out thanks to Recording Secretary Anderson and Financial Secretary Keahon.

The Bethel Woods raffle winner was chosen by a drawing at our last meeting and the winner was the raffle chairman George Anderson, a big thank you to all who sold or bought tickets. $4,000.00 was raised, and roughly $1,300.00 will go each to our charity account, our general fund and to St. Anastasia Church. The check will be presented to Father Mike Keane at our Memorial Mass for Joseph Duelk and Lt. Louis Allen on Sunday June 10th at the 9:30 AM Mass. All members are asked to attend this mass in proper uniform if you have it. Green Jacket, black shoes socks and trousers and a white shirt and black tie. If you don’t have a jacket, please join us with your family anyway. After the mass we will lay wreaths on Lt. Louis Allen’s grave at the veterans’ cemetery in Goshen and Joseph Duelk’s grave in Washingtonville. Light refreshments and food will be served at the Hall afterwards. An AOH Orange County board meeting will be held at 2PM the same day Sunday June 10th at the hall, so please stick around for the meeting. The county president Edmund Burke has asked that if you wish anything to be placed on the agenda for discussion you must notify him prior to the meeting.

On Friday June 8th The Fleming Scholarship Committee will hold its annual golf outing fundraiser and awards day at Falkirk golf course. 9: AM sign up. Cost to golf $150.00. Cost for Awards Dinner after golf 2PM $50.00.

On Saturday June 16th at 2PM, AOH Division 1 will assist at the gate for the annual Palaia Winery Celtic Festival in Central Valley. Volunteers are needed to work the gate and sell 50/50 tickets for our organization. This is a great opportunity to meet and greet new members and raise money for our division and the LAOH. Contact me at 845-313-3644 if you can help out that day.

In our motto,

Friendship, Unity and Christian Charity.

Neil O’Riordan
